Job Description / Duties
Reporting to the CEO, the Data Analytics Manager will be responsible for leading the research, collection, and analysis of data related to housing regulations within First Nations communities. This role will utilize surveys and adhere to the principles set forth by the First Nations Information Governance Centre (FNIGC), particularly the OCAP® principles. The successful candidate will create comprehensive reports and presentations for various stakeholders, including First Nations communities and the Federal Government.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Data Collection and Research:
- Lead the design and implementation of data collection methodologies and surveys focused on housing regulations in First Nations communities
- Ensure data collection processes adhere to FNIGC's OCAP® principles, emphasizing data ownership, control, access, and possession by First Nations
- Conduct extensive research using FNIGC surveys and other relevant data sources to gather accurate and relevant information
Data Analysis:
- Analyze quantitative and qualitative data to identify trends, patterns, and insights related to housing regulations and conditions within First Nations communities
- Utilize advanced statistical tools and software to perform data analysis and ensure high standards of data accuracy and integrity
Reporting and Communication:
- Prepare detailed reports, fact sheets, and presentations based on data analysis to communicate findings to various stakeholders, including First Nations communities and the Federal Government
- Present research findings and reports to the Federal Government, ensuring clarity and comprehensiveness in the communication of data insights and policy implications
Collaboration and Advocacy:
- Work closely with First Nations communities to ensure their perspectives and needs are reflected in data collection and reporting processes
- Advocate for the implementation of data-driven policies and programs that address housing challenges in First Nations communities
- Collaborate with other departments, organizations, and stakeholders to support data-driven decision-making and policy development
Team Management:
- Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and excellence within the team
- Provide leadership and direction to team members to achieve FNHPA’s goals and objectives.
- Set clear expectations and goals for each team member
- Provide team members with regular feedback on their performance
- Effectively implement FNHPA’s performance management program and provide recommendations for salary adjustments.
- Ensure adherence to FNHPA’s policies and procedures
- Proactively identify, address, and resolve HR situations and conflicts
- Collaborate with other departments to achieve FNHPA’s objectives
- Develop and implement strategies to enhance team efficiency and effectiveness
- Foster a safe and healthy work environment
Compliance and Ethics:
- Ensure all data collection and analysis activities comply with ethical standards and regulations, respecting the rights and privacy of individuals and communities
- Maintain high standards of quality and accuracy in all research and reporting activities
WORKING CONDITIONS
- Perform all tasks in a culturally responsive manner, aligned with FNHPA's vision, mission, and objectives
- Collaborate with diverse stakeholders, including public and First Nation communities, their administrative staff and FNHPA members
- Manage multiple deadlines and interruptions
- Work effectively and efficiently in a flexible office environment
- Possibility of occasional travel, requiring flexibility to work in various locations and schedules as necessary.
Qualifications / Required Skills
EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Public Policy, Social Sciences, or a related field
Experience:
- 5 years of relevant work experience in First Nation programming (social sciences or data analytics)
- 2 years of experience in a management position
- Or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Knowledge:
- Computer literacy within a Windows environment
Skills and Abilities:
- Strong understanding of First Nations cultures and housing needs.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
- Experience with e-learning platforms and curriculum development.
- Proven ability to manage budgets and write successful funding proposals.
- Strong analytical skills
- Attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to be discreet and maintain a high level of confidentiality
- Excellent organizational and prioritization
- Strong judgment and problem-solving skills
- Demonstrated ability to work under pressure and to adapt to a changing environment
Assets:
- Hold a FNHP designation and be in good standing
- French bilingual or bilingual in other First Nation languages.
