Enhancing First Nations Housing Relationships Workshop | Garden River

This two-day workshop provides an opportunity to learn more about First Nations and their relationships with various housing programs and services in their community.
During the workshop participants will:
- Learn more about First Nation culture, history and practices as it relates to how housing activities may occur on-reserve,
- Discuss how housing decisions are influenced and made,
- Share information on how to build and maintain working relationships,
- Review demographics related to First Nations,
- Consider historical events and legislation that has impacted on-reserve housing,
- Participate in a visit to a community housing project that has utilized Federal/Provincial funding.
The workshop has been designed to be interactive and participatory and utilizes a variety of learning methods including presentations, brainstorming, small and large group discussions and sharing of participant observations.
WHO SHOULD ATTEND?
Employees of Federal/Provincial/Municipal governments, private industry and organizations that work with or in support of First Nation housing. Both new and experienced employees will find this learning opportunity beneficial as they build and maintain working relationships with their First Nation clients. Participants will be encouraged to share their knowledge and experience during the workshop.

Time: 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. daily
Location: Garden River, ON - Garden River Community Centre, 7 Shingwauk Street
Lunch and two snacks (AM and PM) are provided
