PLAR Session | Alberta

novembre 13, 2025

Calling all professionals with over 7 years or more experience in First Nation Housing! Are you ready to join a group of highly skilled professionals? Join us for this one-day work session, explaining the designation program and certification process through the Prior Learning Assessment and Recognition (PLAR) pathway. If you have 7 years or more experience, you can fast-track your certification process through PLAR.

A First Nations Housing Professional (FNHP):

  • serves their community,
  • continues to develop their career,
  • and follows high standards in ethics and housing management.

Candidates who will be attending are expected to bring draft or final content outlined in the PLAR Guide — such as a resume, related job descriptions, evidence of related education (certificates, diplomas, etc.), and two sponsorship letters — and be prepared to work on building their PLAR portfolio. The purpose of this session is to provide a forum for like-minded candidates to come together and, with the assistance of a facilitator, learn about the process and tips on the best steps to follow; go through the process with the intent of completing a substantial part of the content necessary for the required portfolio; discuss educational and experience that demonstrates competency evidence; obtain instant feedback and work completed during the workshop; and identify further activities that may be required to submit a quality portfolio.
