Job Description / Duties
Financial Reporting:
- Assist in the preparation and analysis of monthly financial statements, including profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements
- Maintain accurate financial records and ensure timely data entry
- Support the preparation of detailed financial reports for internal review
Budgeting and Forecasting:
- Collaborate with the Financial Controller to develop and monitor the annual budget
- Assist in preparing financial forecast statements
- Provide updates and analysis on budget status and forecasts to the Financial Controller
Financial Analysis:
- Monitor FNHPA’s finances and analyze departmental spending
- Help identify trends and key drivers of financial performance
- Support financial investigations and provide recommendations
Cash Flow Management:
- Assist with managing cash flow to ensure adequate liquidity for ongoing operations
- Support the development and implementation of strategies to mitigate cash flow risks
- Help manage accounts payable and receivable processes
Payroll:
- Process payroll accurately and on time
- Maintain payroll records and ensure compliance with relevant regulations
Audit and Compliance:
- Support the coordination of annual financial audits
- Assist in developing, communicating, implementing, and updating financial policies, procedures, practices, and programs
- Ensure the accuracy and compliance of financial data entries and processes
Team Support:
- Provide administrative and clerical support to the Business Operations team
- Contribute to the culture of collaboration and excellence within the team
- Support team members in achieving FNHPA’S goals and objectives
Relationship Building and Communication:
- Act as a financial liaison between FNHPA and its stakeholders as needed
WORKING CONDITIONS
- Perform all tasks in a culturally responsive manner, aligned with FNHPA's vision, mission, and objectives.
- Collaborate with diverse stakeholders, including public and First Nation communities and their administrative staff and FNHPA members
- Manage multiple deadlines and interruptions
- Work effectively and efficiently in a flexible office environment
- Possibility of occasional travel, requiring flexibility to work in various locations and schedules as necessary.
Qualifications / Required Skills
Education:
- College diploma in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field
Experience:
- 2 years of relevant work experience
Knowledge:
- Computer literacy within a Windows environment
- Proficiency in the following software: SAGE (Accounting), TELPAY (Bill payment)
- Thorough understanding of pensions, benefits, and employment standards
Skills and Abilities:
- Strong organizational and prioritization skills
- Attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to be discreet and maintain a high level of confidentiality
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to work under pressure and adapt to a changing environment
Assets:
- Experience with nonprofit and First Nations organizations
- Hold an FNHP designation and be in good standing
- French bilingual or bilingual in other First Nations languages
- Progress towards or holding a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation

Salary: $46,000.00 - $69,000.00
