Job Description / Duties

Reporting to the Housing and Wellness Manager, the Housing and Wellness Coordinator is responsible for executing the Housing and Wellness Program strategy. This position serves as the main point of contact for members regarding program development, logistics, training and education and administrative support services. In depth knowledge of all FNHPA products and services offered to current and future members is an essential success factor for the Housing and Wellness Coordinator.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Program Development and Promotion:

  •  Increase the national participation in the Keeper of My Home program
  • Assist members with accessing resources and engaging in program activities
  • Coordinate the development and distribution of Housing and Wellness Program information and materials.
  • Manage and update program content on the website
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts to develop Housing and Wellness Program content and methodology


Meeting Coordination and Documentation:

  • Coordinate a variety of meetings, such as task force, special committee, and partnership meetings:
    • Organize meeting
    •  Prepare meeting content
    •  Document meeting minutes
    • Record and maintain the status of meeting action items
  • Relationship Building and Communication:
    • Cultivate relationships with First Nation communities, partners, and members
    • Liaise with FNHP members, Housing Managers, and other First Nations staff
  • Conferences and Events:
    •  Provide support with workshop registration, administrative tasks, and logistics coordination
    • Attend and participate in conferences to promote the FNHPA and its Housing Wellness Program (as needed)
    • Contribute to conference content and provide onsite support
  • General Project Support:
    • Coordinate general project tasks and offer support to the Housing and Wellness Manager as needed

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Perform all tasks in a culturally responsive manner, aligned with FNHPA's vision and mission
  • Collaborate with diverse stakeholders, including public and First Nation communities, Chief and Council members, administrative staff and FNHPA members
  • Manage multiple deadlines and interruptions
  • Work effectively and efficiently in a flexible office environment
  • Possibility for occasional travel, requiring flexibility to work in various locations and schedules as necessary

Qualifications / Required Skills

EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS


Education:

  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in social work, sociology, human services, public health, community development, or a related field


Experience:

  • 2 years of relevant experience in First Nation programming (housing, health, social or education)


Knowledge:

  • Knowledge of First Nations housing services, challenges, and impact on community health
  • Computer literacy within a Windows environment, including adeptness in database management, website navigation, and utilization of various social media platforms


Skills and Abilities:

  • Empathy, cultural sensitivity, and a commitment to social justice
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, written and spoken
  • Excellent organizational, prioritization and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, deadlines, and changing priorities
  • Strong skills in collaboration and relationship building
  • Commitment to continuous learning
  • Ability to work autonomously as well as with a team
  • Proficiency in MS Office
  • Ability to work autonomously as well as with a team

Assets:

  • Hold a FNHP designation and be in good standing
  • French bilingual or bilingual in other First Nation languages.

Additional Information

**Given the funding stream for this position, only applicants between the ages of 18-30 will be considered. This position will be for a two-year period.**
