Job Description / Duties
Provide advice to the Vice-President, Indigenous Relations, and other members of the management team on matters related to housing transformation of current programs, policy reviews and future models of transfer of care and control.
Advance reconciliation efforts by building renewed relationships with Indigenous Peoples based on the recognition of rights, respect, co-operation, and partnership.
Guide and support a matrix work organization by working closely with business lines, who are responsible for the integration and execution of the actions in support of Indigenous reconciliation.
Support the development of a comprehensive, inclusive, flexible, and forward-looking operating model that supports rebuilding and managing relationships between Indigenous and non-Indigenous key industry stakeholders to facilitate and advance systemic change within and outside of CMHC.
Lead activities in order to accelerate and establish CMHC’s reconciliation action plan across the inner workings of the Corporation.
Provide advice to realign policies, programs, data/analytics, research, and practices to restore and support the self-governance model preferred by Indigenous governments and organizations, Truth and Reconciliation Commission Calls to Action, and the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples.
Provide clear direction to internal team members by contributing to key sector plans and establishing shared goals, objectives and/or target and bridge the different perspectives and priorities that will arise due to conflicting views.
Recommend, lead and/or guide complex projects to promote social-economic development opportunities for Indigenous communities and businesses.
Qualifications / Required Skills
A cumulative of 7 years of related experience working directly with Indigenous communities, governments and associations.
Bachelor degree or College diploma in a relevant field is considered asset.
Deep network and understanding of Indigenous people, communities, and organizations across Canada.
In-depth knowledge and expertise navigating complex political, financing and housing eco-systems, facilitating the implementation of strategic or transformation initiatives.
Experience building and maintaining constructive and consultative working relationships with government, communities, associations and financial sectors stakeholders to improve housing outcomes.
Awareness of government priorities, experience examining policies and programs, building, and applying frameworks.
Ability to conduct original analysis, to synthesize, to solve abstract, complex issues using appropriate techniques, and to capture and balance a multitude of other factors that define public policy and business operating environments.
Experience in preparing reports, and developing and delivering presentations.
Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, communication and stakeholder management skills.
Strong project management skills and the ability to work independently and collaboratively; capable of handling multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
