Brandon Barberstock (Aronhiawén:rate, meaning “The Other Side of the Sky”) is Kanien’kehá:ka (Mohawk), Wolf Clan, from the Kenhtè:ke Kanyen’kehà:ka (Mohawks of the Bay of Quinte First Nation), Tyendinaga Mohawk Territory, with ancestry that also connects him to the Michi Saagiig Anishinaabeg. He grew up in Tyendinaga, where his Rotinonhsyón:ni (Haudenosaunee) identity continues to guide his life and work.
As Information Technology Coordinator at FNHPA, Brandon oversees IT infrastructure, cybersecurity, and systems, ensuring they remain secure, reliable, and aligned with FNHPA’s mission. He assesses IT needs, develops policies, and leads projects from planning to completion. He also provides expert IT advice, manages compliance, vendors, and staff training, making technology a strong foundation for housing management in First Nations communities.
Brandon has additional experience in Indigenous education, strategy, and cultural engagement, working with universities, Friendship Centres, and community organizations to integrate Indigenous knowledge into governance and programs. He previously contributed to IT service delivery for the Government of Canada, helping establish national service standards that improved efficiency and reliability.
He studied Indigenous Studies at Western University, holds diplomas in Recreation and Leisure Services and Fitness and Health Promotion, and graduated from the Government of Canada’s IT Apprenticeship Program for Indigenous Peoples as a qualified IT professional.
