Call for Letters of Interest — Ontario Representative on the FNHPA Board

Dear Ontario FNHPA Members,

FNHPA is inviting letters of interest from Ontario members interested in serving as the Ontario representative on the FNHPA Board of Directors.
The successful applicant will be appointed to fill the remainder of the vacant term, ending in September 2027.

This is a volunteer governance role. Board Directors provide strategic direction and oversight, contribute to Board committees, and guide FNHPA’s work in alignment with its vision and mission:

FNHPA’s mission is to strengthen capacity across the First Nations housing industry through collaboration with our youth, members, partners, and communities, while honouring our distinct cultural identities and traditions.

Who should apply

We welcome interest from Ontario members who:

  • Hold the First Nations Housing Professional (FNHP) designation or are willing to commit to working toward it while serving on the Board.
  • Do not currently hold an elected Chief or Councillor position, as this is a non-political role.
  • Bring knowledge and experience in First Nations housing, along with perspectives that can support FNHPA’s vision, mission and strategic priorities and reflect the needs of Ontario members.
  • Have the time and capacity to prepare for and attend Board and committee meetings, complete assigned work, and participate in related activities and travel.
  • Are committed to confidentiality, ethical conduct, respectful collaboration and acting in the best interests of FNHPA.


What the role involves

Board Directors help guide FNHPA’s strategic priorities, bring forward regional perspectives and strengthen relationships with youth, members, partners and communities. They support an approach that respects distinct First Nations cultural identities, traditions and regional realities.

Board Directors work collectively through the Board while respecting the distinction between governance and operational responsibilities. They are encouraged to participate in at least three committees, recognizing that meeting frequency and time commitments vary. Applicants should consider their availability for these responsibilities alongside their existing commitments.


What to include in your letter

Please tell us:

  •  Why you would like to serve on the FNHPA Board.
  • About your experience in First Nations housing and any relevant governance, leadership or community work.
  • What strengths and perspectives you would bring to the Board, including your understanding of housing priorities in Ontario.
  • How you would contribute to advancing FNHPA’s vision and mission.
  • Your FNHP designation status or your commitment to pursuing the designation.
  • Your availability to fulfill Board and committee responsibilities, including any competing commitments or potential conflicts of interest.

 

Please submit your letter to Farren Saulis Rogers, Director of Corporate Services, by email no later than Friday, November 13, 2026, at 12:00 noon Eastern Standard Time (EST).

The Board will review submissions at a special meeting to consider an appointment.
