Keeper of My Home (KMH)
Teaching children and youth about housing can help improve economic and social conditions. It can bring about positive change through a bottom-up approach. This happens as youth become housing champions and teach their families and communities about housing safety and health issues.
The program is built around the following 4 themes:
- Traditional teaching of the community
- First Nation housing topics
- Home maintenance
- Home safety
The KMH Program addresses many of the areas of concern for the Housing and Wellness Program. These 4 themes have underlying lessons related to education (traditional teachings, First Nation housing topics), as well as wellness (home maintenance, home safety).
