Job Description / Duties

Reporting to Housing Asset & Project Manager, the purpose of the Project Coordinator is to coordinate and provide administrative support to housing projects. This position is a full-time term position and will be required to work in the office and remotely as directed, with moderate local travel as required.

Coordinate Housing Projects:

• Monitor quality control throughout Renovation & Mechanical Upgrade Projects and RRAP repairs.
• Receive contract bids and recommend successful contractor based on a variety of factors, including price, reputation, and estimated project length
• Create and manage renovation contracts
• Prepare and manage financial reports including budgets, invoice coding, and cash flow
• Prepare CMHC Section 95 Social Housing/Housing Support Program applications
• Assist with the preparation of Band Council Resolutions as needed
• Receive, review, and respond to incoming project change orders as needed throughout the project
• Coordinate with other internal departments, outside agencies or organizations to receive and process required documents for new housing units
• Assess current conditions of selected houses and develop reports and recommendations to address any construction issues
• Other related duties as required

Provide Administrative Support to the Department:

• Support staff in a variety of clerical duties such as copying, and filing
• Prepare a variety of documents such as correspondence, reports, newsletter inserts and assessment documents
• Attend housing department staff meetings
• Manage physical and electronic files and documents
• Prepare agenda items and reports for the Housing Committee
• Refer community members to internal and external resources when appropriate
• Participate in a variety of internal and external committees and working groups as directed by the Housing Manager
• Educate community members on residential house construction processes and requirements
• Other related duties as required

Qualifications / Required Skills

Grade 12 graduation required
• Technical certification in a related field required, such as Gold Seal Certification or equivalent experience
• 3 years’ construction project management experience, 5 years` construction experience
• BC Driver’s License and reliable vehicle


• Knowledge of Cowichan Tribes internal departments and programs
• Knowledge of Cowichan Tribes’ housing agreements, such as Canadian Housing & Mortgage Corporation (CHMC) and Indigenous Services Canada (ISC)
• Knowledge of internal databases an asset, such as AIS and TIFIS
• Well-developed written, oral, interpersonal skills and computer skills.
• Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to coordinate different projects simultaneously
• Knowledge and understanding of Cowichan Tribes culture, Hul’q’umi’num language and traditions, or a willingness to learn

Additional Information

Effective December 1, 2021: full vaccination against COVID-19 is required to be eligible for employment at Cowichan Tribes. All individuals must show Proof of Vaccination as a mandatory condition of their employment

Salary: $55,692.00 to $66,484.60 Annual
