Guided by Indigenous ways of knowing, being, and doing, Mindy is a proud Mi'kmaq woman working from and residing in her home community of Eskasoni First Nation. She is a respected advocate, thought leader, and innovator in Indigenous governance, research, and data sovereignty. With nearly two decades of experience, Mindy has successfully led numerous culturally appropriate, community-driven projects, supporting Nations in achieving self-determination and data sovereignty. She has shaped national and global conversations on Indigenous data governance, contributing to the National First Nations Data Governance Strategy and the Open Government and Open Data initiative.

A results-oriented change maker, Mindy has collaborated with First Nation leadership, governments, and institutions across Canada to drive policy change and advance Indigenous governance modernization. Recognized for her integrity and extensive network, Mindy has held prestigious appointments on national boards, committees, and advisory panels. She has been invited to international dialogues, including a conversation with Barack Obama. Her expertise in Indigenous research methodologies, policy development, and governance makes her a trusted leader in the field Indigenous research.

Beyond her professional work, Mindy dedicates her time to initiatives advancing the Truth and Reconciliation Commission’s Calls to Action and the Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls (MMIWG) Calls to Justice, ensuring her advocacy contributes to lasting, meaningful change.
